Sleep Deprivation

We may have picked a bad time to switch Grey over to his new "big boy" room...with his whole "not napping" phase and all.  One would think that skipping naps would mean Grey would sleep great at night...

So I mentioned Grey went to bed after his little vomiting episode Sunday evening...and he slept all night til I had to wake him up to go to Kim's Monday morning.  He was not ready to get up and ended up putting himself down for a nap around 11:30am.  He literally walked upstairs, climbed into the pack-n-play there, and passed out!  Monday night Sky was out of town and I was dreading bedtime, but Grey surprised me and went down great.  I kept telling Sky how proud of him I was....just going on and on. Well the lil man made me eat my words!  He was wide awake with his bedroom light on at 4am Tuesday morning.  I went in there, changed him, and laid in bed with him for a long time.  We talked a bit and I made a promise to go to the store and buy him a new toy if he stayed in bed and went back to sleep.  Finally at 6am, he passed out!  Too bad I couldn't fall back asleep!  The lil man woke up around 7:30am and was in a good enough mood yesterday morning.  Around 10, we ran to the big grocery store to pick up a few things and let him pick out a toy.

He picked out a train (shocker, I know).  He was happy as could be...ate a great lunch and willingly came into his room around 12:45.  We read a few books and then I put him in his bed.  The lil crapper kept getting out of bed, reading books, talking, singing, jumping on the bed....I went in a few times and tried to "reason" with him...and by reason I mean promise a treat if he took a nap and stayed in his bed.  He stayed in his room for a while, but never slept!  I finally gave up around 2:30.  He did okay the rest of the day but was pretty cranky by the time 7pm rolled around.  He went to bed like a champ...out like a light shortly after 8pm.  He was so behind on his sleep, I really thought he'd sleep all night.  Again, I was wrong.  I heard him at 4:30am!  I walked out of my room and there he was..."hi mommy"!  I took him back into his room, changed his diaper, and finally convinced him, through the tears, that we would "go out of the door" in a little bit.  We talked and snuggled for a good hour....he then says...Mommy, I peed the bed.  I'm like huh?  You have a diaper on?  Sure enough, I felt the bed and it was wet!  I am not sure how he did it, but he peed the bed despite his diaper being on!  I gave up on sleep, changed his bed, got him dressed, got myself ready for work, and headed to Kim's around 7am!

Fast-Forward 15 minutes...and he was out like a light! He took a 10 minute cat nap in the car, but was ready to "play trains" the minute we walked into Kim's house!

Hopefully a little Halloween fun with Auntie Dani and Greg followed by Trick-or-Treating in the frigid weather will wear him out so he sleeps ALL NIGHT!  I feel so bad for him because I know this is a huge adjustment, but he and I BOTH need a good night's sleep!  Happy Halloween!  Turns out I don't need a costume...I am a zombie already:)  Tee hee hee

Construction vehicles: Like Alfie, Jack, Max & Monty, Byron, Patrick (pronounced Patruck), and Kelly.  The names relate to the construction vehicles in the Thomas the Train series...he points them out whenever we are driving around, uses his letters as "dirt" when we are playing in the loft, and loves the Alphie like digging "thing" at the park.

Grey will not go to bed without his "white blanky", "Thomas blanky", Green Froggie, Dinosaur, and Boots.  He usually even needs all of these comforts even when he is winding down and watching a show before bed.

Bedtime ritual:
At about 7:30, Grey watches a show, then we brush his teeth with his electric Thomas toothbrush, read 2-4 books in his rocking chair, and then he usually says he wants to take a nap. We are in hte process of moving to his big boy bed, so I am hoping this ritual can continue:)

Favorite foods:
Breakfast: Cereal, Fruit, Yogurt, Bacon (he no longer is a fan of oatmeal, will not give eggs a chance, and doesn't really like toast, waffles, or pancakes)

Lunch/Dinner: Turkey, Cheese, Crackers (but no Turkey/Cheese Sandwich), carrott sticks, creamed spinach, apples, grapes, strawberries, watermelon, peaches, apple sauce, macaroni & cheese, grilled cheese, chicken fingers, rotisserie chicken...and he recently gave spaghetti a chance!

We are trying to "force" him to try more things, but he is a stubborn lil man!  (can't imagine who he gets that from"

Sayings/Language:
He says "mama" a lot lately...."I see Alfie mama", "Play trains wif you mama", "Mama read books", "I love you mama"...

He gets his "I" and "you's" mixed up and talks about himself in the 3rd person often...its precious:)

We often reward him for going to bed without crying or for being a good boy with a cookie or a prize...so he often says, "Take a nap, wake up, & Get a prize"....and he says it with the same enthusiasm each time.

He repeats what he hears in his shows a lot too...."There is a big storm cloud", "Crocodiles in the water mama" (and they are apparently in any lake or river we see!), he makes lots of animal sounds...Hee Haw (donkey), Ew Ew Ew Ah Ah Ah (Monkey), and Gobble Gobble (Turkey)...which are among my favorites.

When he is upstairs and I am downstairs, he loves to stand at the top if the steps and say "Mooooommy where r u" or "Mooooomy I'm up here"....at the top of his lungs I might add!

Clothes/Sizes:
3T shirts, 2T-3T pants, 4T pajamas, and Size 9 shoes (pretty sure he needs size wide moving forward too...fat fat feet!)

22 weeks!

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. 

If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily

1st Night in Big Boy Bed

The weather has officially turned cold!  We were in the 80s last week and this week we have highs in the 40s!  Yikes!  I have to admit, I'm ready for the cold weather...but I could do without all the rain!

 Friday night was low key...just Grey, Thomas the Train, and me until Sky got home around 8.  It was a much needed "chill" evening!

Saturday morning we got up and headed to Travis's house for a morning party!

 Our lil man has not been napping very well this past week.  I am praying its a phase and not the end of napping.  2 years and 4 months is tooo young to get rid of naps!  After 90 minutes of trying, I was finally able to rock Grey to sleep.   Instead of putting him in his crib, we just let him sleep in our bed.

While Grey napped, Sky and I put the finishing touches on Grey's big boy room.  We were hopeful the transition would be smooth, but realistic to know it wouldn't go off without a hitch.  Grey slept fine...after he finally passed out at 11:30pm!  We thought for sure he'd sleep in...or at least take a nice long nap this afternoon...boy, were we wrong.  Grey was up by 7am and refused to take a nap!

We still made the most of the day and headed to church this morning. 

And then to Charlotte's first birthday party this evening.

Oh the drama!

All in all, grey did pretty well.  He was running on fumes and would go from running in circles to having a melt down...

But this green cupcake sure kept him happy for a good 2 0 minutes!

We headed home around 6pm, gave our lil man a bath, and tried the "going to bed" process at about 7.  Grey was beyond tired.  Believe it or not, he fought it!  He kept saying he wanted to go bye bye!  At one point he got so upset he threw up a little.  After 2 books and rocking him on the lazy boy, Grey finally gave in and passed out.  He is now sleeping like a log in his big boy bed!  Pray he sleeps all night...as all three of us could use a good night's sleep!

I am still on the hunt for some cute stuffed animals and surf knick knacks, but the room is ready!

I am happy with how the headboard turned out...might have picked a different blue if I had it to do over again, but too late now!  All in all, I would say this is a Pinterest Success!

My lil man doesn't get to grow up in Hawaii like his Daddy, but at least he can grow up with a surf room!!!

Parks and Halloween Preview

This week has been unusually warm for late October in Hawaii, so we have been taking full advantage.  I am pretty sure this is the last warm week....there is even a small chance of snow next week!!!

Grey and I played at the park in our neighborhood after I got home from work Wednesday.  He "borrowed" another's child's helmet and wouldn't do anything without it!  Running around and swinging is quite dangerous...good thing his head was protected!

Tuesday we met Lianne and her daughter Reese at a mall play area in the morning.  The kids had a ball running around like crazy people!  Wouldn't you know Grey still didn't nap!!!  I am so scared he is going to phase out naps totally just in time for Baby #2....and I'll need his naps more than ever!

Despite no napping, we went to our local grocery store Tuesday evening.  They were having a  Halloween event where the kids could come dressed up and "trick or treat" around the store.  They had all sorts of fun activities set up!  Grey was most interested in the treats...imagine that!

After two suckers and begging for more treats, I was sure Grey wouldn't eat a good dinner....  I swear this kid never ceases to surprise me.  We are making an effort to make Grey eat more and different foods.  I had made homeade meatballs, spaghetti, and garlic bread.  He has never taken to spaghetti...but Tuesday night he did.  I put a plate in front of him and he went to town!  I was so thrilled!

I rewarded him with a "choc o lat" cake pop!  I don't think he enjoyed it at all!!!

Sky took  yesterday off to come to my ultrasound and spend the day with Grey!  They went out ot breakfast, ran to Costco, and then picked me up from work.  We played in the park and went out to dinner!  It was so nice having Sky around before 7pm!

The baby looked great....nothing of any concern!  Our baby to be weighs one pound and is 12 inches long (head to foot).  The heartbeat was 146bpm.  We resisted and did not look when the ultrasound tech was near the "private" area...so we will officially be surprised if we are having a boy or girl:)

21 Weeks

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. No huge new developments other than I am getting bigger and bigger and I am feeling the baby move more and more.  I remember really missing that after I had Grey...I swear it is one of the best feelings in the world!  We have our Level 2 Ultrasound Wednesday morning and I can hardly wait to see our little one!!!

 Greyson is still obsessed with Thomas the Train, but he loves big construction vehicles too.  Of course, he compares them to trains/trucks/tractors that are all part of the Thomas the Train series...
Anywho, there was a vehicle parked in our neighborhood over the weekend that looks like Alfie (one of Grey's favorite Thomas characters)...so Sky and my mom took him to play on it while I was at my company tailgate.

What a weekend!

After an exhausting week, our weekend started out on the go go go.  My parents are in town helping my brother move back to Columbus from Denver and ended up staying with us Friday night.  Grey and I stopped at DJ's new house and then headed to the grocery store.  Thankfully I had leftover lasagna from Thursday night, but I needed stuff to make a salad.  By the time I got home and unloaded, I got dinner ready...we ate, bathed Grey, and before I knew it, it was 9pm!  I did go to bed by 10 and was up by 7 to head down to campus for my company tailgate.  Thankfully the rain subsided and it turned out to be a relatively nice day.  I only stayed until kickoff and then headed home...I was irritable and tired...so I laid in bed while Grey napped to watch the game.  I figured we would blow Purdue out and I'd sneak in a nap...but boy, was I wrong.  We won in overtime after coming back from an 8 point deficit with only 47 seconds to go!  Although it should not have been that close, it was one of the most exciting games I have seen in a while.  8 and 0 baby!!!

Saturday evening, my mom, dad, Sky, Grey and I met Dani and Greg for dinner at Rusty Bucket.  I was just thankful I didn't have to cook!!

Sunday my parent left early to go help DJ with the whole moving process.  Grey and I just go laundry started and hung out!
